Just got a Purple Star @Squidoo
I just got a nice little surprise! As some of you know I also have a few lenses (a.k.a. blog posts) on Squidoo.com. Squidoo is a great place to blog about pretty much anything your heart desires. For example, I have lenses from How to Charter a Fishing Boat to All Natural Cold Remedies.
While I use my wordpress.com blog (this one right here) mainly for business purposes and therefor keep the topics consistent and related. With squidoo, there does not need to be a general theme. Whatever you are in the mood to blog about at that time, you can go right on ahead and post about it.
Squidoo is not only a place to share your thoughts and knowledge on things you love, it’s actually a lot like a game, as well. You earn points for just about everything from receiving comments to posting comments, adding modules (similar to widgets on wordpress) to posting a new lens. Also, the more people that like or Squidlike (yup, I said squidlike – it’s a technical term) your lens the more points you.
You can also earn Trophies. These are harder to get which make them that much more exciting when you receive them. In fact, earning my 8 trophy was my inspiration for posting this blog.
A few minutes ago, to my surprise I was awarded a Purple Star (which came with a trophy) for my lens: How to Blog when you Hate Blogging!

Ok, so some of you might be thinking that I am getting a little too excited about this. Well, in actuality, there is more to Squidoo then just points, likes and trophies. Squidoo actually has a social media presence and your lenses get indexed just like any other good content posted on the internet. In fact, you will probably get indexed quicker because of Squidoo’s page ranking.
So, if you feel like taking a break from the writing the same old stuff that you write for your clients or your business blog, then check out Squidoo for a little fun. You can even earn a little extra cash through their Amazon affiliate modules; you don’t even need an affiliate account!
